Islas Galapagos 🏝🇪🇨

Early in the morning, it was time to take the bus to Guayaquil. At the Guayaquil airport I had to buy the Galapagos tourist card for 20$ and show them my flight back from the islands. My flight left from Guayaquil at 11 am and after only 1:30h we touched down in San Cristobal. If you plan on travelling to the Galapagos make sure to get a flight to/from San Cristobal and one to/from Santa Cruz to save a ferry inbetween the islands. My itinerary was 5 days San Cristobal, 4 days of Isabela and 1 1/2 days Santa Cruz.

At the airport in San Cristobal, I had to pay the 200$ entry fee and that quiet hurt. But fortunately, I was able to pay by card as they updated their systems. San Cristobal is a great mixed between Santa Cruz (main island and busiest one) and Isabela (very remote). The airport is within walkable distance and as I only had a small backpack, I walked the 15 minutes to my hotel. And you guys! Finally a private room after travelling for 2 months including an AC. 🥺😍 That felt like a holiday from my trip and I really enjoyed eating dinner in bed. I took a walk to Playa Mann and smelled the sea lions before I actually saw them. The sea lions dont really care about humans and are easily found on streets and benches close to the water.

I spend the first day talking to dive Centers and organizing my ferry Tickets to Isabela and Santa Cruz. Unfortunately, there is no direct ferry from Cristobal to Isabela so a whole travel day was planed for Tuesday. But before that I got to do two dives at Kickers Rock, saw some hammerhead sharks, a big ball of fish, turtles, black tip sharks and sea lions as well. The visibility was unfortunately not the best and the current was pretty strong but definitely worth it! The next days, I spend snorkeling at Playa Carola and made friends with a lot of sea lions.

Tuesday was travel day. To get to the ferry, you will board a watertaxi that will charge you an additional 1$ on top of the ferry ticket. At first, I thought it's a scam but seems like they handle it that way. I left San Cristobal at 7am and arrived in Santa Cruz at 10am and the ferry ride was surprisingly smooth. The closest beach in Santa Cruz is 20 minutes from the city center, so I decided to spend my 5h layover at the beach. The next ferry was again smooth and I finally made it to Isabela where we spotted penguins right where the ferry stoped. 😥😍

In Isabela, you will have to pay an additional 10 dollar entry fee. I spend 4 days snorkeling and exploring the island by foot as you can see the giant tortoises in their natural habitat. The beach is directly in the town and feels infinitive.

I booked the tunneles snorkeling tour and met some lovely people from Canada and Germany 🥰 we got to see many turtles, eagly ray, fish and also a sea horse 🥺

My highlight was definitely the walk to the wall of tears where you can see the giant land tortoises! You could also rent a bike but I hate biking, therefore I decided to start walking early in the morning.

On Saturday, I took the 6 am ferry back to Santa Cruz and arrived early in the morning. I used the day to walk to Tortuga Bay and got an incredible view of the beach and lagoon. The next day, I had to get to the airport in Santa Cruz, which took me 1.5h and the best part was another watertaxi inbetween bus rides. After 11 incredible days, it was time to say goodbye and head back to Montañita. What a privilege it has been! 🥺❤️

In total, I spend 1.185,70€ for 11 days=107.79€/day

Früh morgens gings los nach Guayaquil. Am Flughafen in Guayaquil musste ich die Galápagos-Touristenkarte für 20$ kaufen und meinen Rückflug von den Inseln zeigen. Mein Flug ging um 11 Uhr morgens ab und nach nur 1,5 Stunden landeten wir in San Cristóbal. Wenn ihr auf die Galápagos-Inseln reisen wollt, sorgt dafür, dass ihr einen Flug nach/von San Cristóbal und einen nach/von Santa Cruz bucht, um die Fähre zwischen den Inseln zu sparen. Mein Plan war 5 Tage in San Cristóbal, 4 Tage in Isabela und 1,5 Tage in Santa Cruz.

Am Flughafen in San Cristóbal musste ich dann die Eintrittsgebühr von 200$ bezahlen, was schon ein bisschen weh tat. Aber zum Glück konnte ich mit Karte bezahlen, da sie ihr System aktualisiert haben. San Cristóbal ist eine tolle Mischung aus Santa Cruz (der größten und belebtesten Insel) und Isabela (sehr ruhig). Der Flughafen ist fußläufig erreichbar, und da ich nur einen kleinen Rucksack hatte, bin ich die 15 Minuten zum Hotel gelaufen. Und Leute, endlich ein privates Zimmer nach 2 Monaten Reisen – mit Klimaanlage! 🥺😍 Das war wie ein Urlaub von der Reise und ich habe es total genossen, im Bett zu Abend zu essen. Ich machte einen Spaziergang zum Playa Mann und konnte die Seelöwen schon riechen, bevor ich sie tatsächlich sah. Die Seelöwen stört es nicht wirklich, wenn Menschen in der Nähe sind, und man findet sie überall, auf Straßen und Bänken in der Nähe des Wassers.

Am ersten Tag habe ich mich mit Tauchcentern unterhalten und meine Fährtickets nach Isabela und Santa Cruz organisiert. Leider gibt es keine direkte Fähre von Cristóbal nach Isabela, also war der Dienstag komplett für die Reise eingeplant. Aber vorher konnte ich noch zwei Tauchgänge am Kickers Rock machen, habe Hammerhaie, einen riesigen Fischschwarm, Schildkröten, Schwarzspitzenhaie und Seelöwen gesehen. Die Sicht war leider nicht die beste und die Strömung war ziemlich stark, aber es hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt! Die nächsten Tage verbrachte ich mit Schnorcheln am Playa Carola und freundete mich mit vielen Seelöwen an.

Dienstag war Reisetag. Um zur Fähre zu kommen, muss man ein Wassertaxi nehmen, das einen zusätzlichen Dollar kostet. Zuerst dachte ich, es wäre ein Betrug, aber anscheinend läuft es so. Ich verließ San Cristóbal um 7 Uhr und kam um 10 Uhr in Santa Cruz an, die Überfahrt war überraschend ruhig. Der nächste Strand in Santa Cruz ist 20 Minuten vom Stadtzentrum entfernt, also beschloss ich, meine 5 Stunden Aufenthalt dort zu verbringen. Die nächste Fähre war ebenfalls ruhig, und endlich kam ich in Isabela an, wo wir direkt am Fährhafen Pinguine entdeckten. 😥😍

In Isabela musste ich eine zusätzliche Eintrittsgebühr von 10 Dollar bezahlen. Ich verbrachte 4 Tage mit Schnorcheln und Erkunden der Insel zu Fuß, wo man die Riesenschildkröten in ihrem natürlichen Lebensraum sehen kann. Der Strand liegt direkt im Ort und fühlt sich unendlich an.

Ich buchte die Tunneles-Schnorcheltour und traf einige tolle Leute aus Kanada und Deutschland 🥰 Wir sahen viele Schildkröten, eine Adlerrochen, Fische und sogar ein Seepferdchen 🥺

Mein Highlight war definitiv der Spaziergang zur „Wall of Tears“, wo man die Riesenschildkröten sehen kann! Man könnte auch ein Fahrrad mieten, aber ich mag kein Radfahren, also entschloss ich mich, früh am Morgen zu Fuß loszuziehen.

Am Samstag nahm ich die Fähre um 6 Uhr zurück nach Santa Cruz und kam früh am Morgen an. Den Tag verbrachte ich damit, zum Tortuga Bay zu laufen und hatte einen unglaublichen Blick auf den Strand und die Lagune. Am nächsten Tag musste ich dann zum Flughafen in Santa Cruz, was 1,5 Stunden dauerte und das Beste war ein weiteres Wassertaxi zwischen den Busfahrten. Nach 11 unglaublichen Tagen war es Zeit, Abschied zu nehmen und zurück nach Montañita zu fahren. Was für ein Ort! 🥺❤️ Magisch und unbeschreiblich ☀️
