Day 45: Chiang Rai

Yesterday evening, we arrived in Chiang Rai for two nights. Therefore, we had the entire day to explore the surroundings of Thailands most northern region. We started the day at Wat Rong Khun, the White Temple of Chiang Rai. The temple itself is beautifully white and shiny. It's impossible to express that by words and also the pictures can't show the real beauty of the temple. However, how the visitors get rushed through was a negative experience. We didn't even get a moment in front of the temple to take even one picture. Nevertheless, it definitely has been worth it coming here! Also, behind the main temple, there's a small cave which was filled with figures and light effects. What an unexpected experience!
The second stop of the day was at the Wat Rong Suea Ten, the Blue Temple of Chiang Rai. This one was much smaller but not less expressive.
The way back to the hotel we did finally by foot.Read more
