Stopover in Abu Dhabi

After Leaving Sydney we had a stopover in Abu Dhabi. We visited the largest Mosque in the world. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is like many Christian churches, an edifice to a very large god.
That afternoon we travelled out to the Falcon Hospital. Despite the 40 minute very fast taxi ride over freeways and more, or roads being created as freeways, the unassuming world leading research facility was amazing. Falcons from UAE are issued passports( no photos as their feathers annually change), and the veterinarians splint feathers, watch for disease and treat thousands of falcons from throughout the Middle East and into the ‘Stan’ countries. The photos tell our adventures with free flying, feeding falcons and also some of the worlds tiniest and largest owls. The falcons in the hospital wear hoods as without they’d fight to the death. Those without hoods have been trained not to fight.
