• Day 56 : Indonesia to Singapore

    7. august 2023, Singapore ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

My last breakfast in Indonesia. I took two ahah the free breakfast at the hostel and an amazing smoothie bowl.

On the plane I started to read my new book. It's so interesting. I like the story.

In order to close Indonesia :
I spent 8 weeks in Indonesia. That's a lot but not that at all.

Indonesia is a big country. Bigger that we think. All the part of indonesia are completly different, there are almost like different country (not the same language, not the same religion, not the same food etc.)
To be honest I want to go back to do Sualeswi , Borneo, Sumatra and Papua.

A small list of funny thing (or not) in Indonesia:

    - Indonesians are really respectful and smiling. I keep in my head the smile of all them, and in particular the childreen. When they see you, just because you are white, they are smiling.

    - It's useful when an Indonesian, say to you "hello" on the street for free.

-The childreen, sometimes enought young, come to the tourists and just ask some easy question like : "Hello, what is your name ? Where are from ? " and the majority of time that's all.(it's to practice english) Sometimes they look shy but sometimes, I was surprised by them confidence of themselves. It 's a thing we can't see in Europe. In mean, personnaly when I see a stranger (and more when I was young) in France, just I don't care of them. Here, they are sooo happy to see you (a bit less in Bali obviously).

-On Google Map you can have the way by scooter and car (the time is different because of jam car)
    - I saw just once a woman grab (In Bali)
    - I never saw a woman coach of surf or what ever.
    - it's not autorized, but you can take a Grab without helmet (i did)
    -They work 6/7D by week
-You can see a whole family on a scooter
    Or many other things
    - in the restaurant there are only a spoon and a fork. Never knife, the meat always is already cut. We cut with fork and eat with spoon.
-The food is really sweet. If you take a tea or juice, it's better to precise without sugar or a just a bit.
-classical Indonesian breakfast is : fried rice or fried Noodle.
    - I didn't see lot of Indonesians with glasses. That's the reality of porverty
    - They learn English at school, but all the Indonesians I met, tell me that they learn English with tourists. They just tried and learned. "Never try, never know"

I ask to some Indonesians with who I talked, their dreams. I wasn't really surprised by their answers:
Fivety pourcent : travel (in particular in Europe)
Fivety pourcent : Enougt (just have what they need to have and enjoy with this)

So, arrived in Singapor, the plane was late, so I arrived around 10p.m at the hostel. I was waiting when Thomas (english) gave me some advice for the check in.
    We went to dinner together.
