    Leaving Hobart

    September 16, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Friends will know that I now never set a leaving time for our holidays. Luckily, the trip to Eaglehawk Neck takes about 1 hour - so no rush to leave. Mary, of course, has to clean the fish tank before we go ! The weather looks a bit wet so we have to pack for that - I assume it's dry by the Hotel Bar!!Read more

  • Arrived at the Lufra Hotel

    September 16, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

A very pleasant drive from Hobart to Eaglehawk Neck. Little bit of rain but no too bad. Plenty of rainbows ... where to bad rainbows go? To prism haha

We have the best room in the hotel - facing north east with windows on two sides.

Can see the Hippolyte Rock - way out to sea.

  • Why stay in a country Hotel?

    September 17, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

Mary and I have stayed in many B&B's and we love them. You get to know the host and you have very friendly service. But staying in a country hotel has its benefits - easy access to food and drinks for example. At the Lufra Hotel we will be having breakfast, lunch and dinner each day!! Also, people at small country pubs, especially off season, still give you wonderful friendly service. I can't say enough after the way we have been welcomed here at the Lufra.Read more

  • Let's go for a little walk, she says ...

    September 17, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌬 10 °C

The Lufra Hotel is perched above the famous Tessellated Pavement at Eaglehawk Neck on the Tasman Peninsular and then there is a huge beach that leads to Pirates Bay. It was high tide when we set off to the Tessellated Pavement down a short track and wooden stairs. We could see some of the rock formations - but not all. So we skipped across (don't try to imagine twinkle toes me) the rocks in between waves coming in and flowing across the flat paths.

The beach is miles long - or so it seems. Mary took off at pace while I stayed behind. However, she seem to be having fun so I went to join her - about 2kms away.
