    Lazy Morning and Sightseeing

    January 9, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

A lazy morning sitting around the camp ground. Sun shining and looking like a nice day. Then it decided to rain not much but enough for the ground to have puddles. Sun shining again so sightseeing was the next agenda item. We drove to Millthorpe and walked around in and out of the shops. Millthorpe was established in the 1800's and the whole village is classified by the National Trust. It was quite pretty and not busy. Then we drove to Carcoar. Along the way we stopped at Carcoar Dam and the Windfarm lookout. The dam area was very pretty but the windfarm actually looked better near the turnoff. Carcoar town apparently is the town that time forgot and as far as we could see probably still to be forgotten. We did not even stop although the pub looked very busy. The town is also classified by the National Trust because of the large number of preserved 19th century buildings. They must be scattered through out the town as we only noticed a few. Now time for coffee so back in the car and a drive to Vittoria to check out the Beekeepers Inn. Great recommendation Lesley. The Cafe was excellent, the museum had some interesting information and lots of honey for sale. We were unable to taste any honey so we decided on the Patterson curse which from the description is very sweet. We like honey drizzled over a brie and thought this would suit our tastes. Back on the road and heading back to Orange to rest at the camp-site.Read more
