    Tham Lawa (Lawa Cave)

    October 1, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

These caves are the earliest known in Kanchanaburi. They were discovered with ancient human skeletons in the cave. It is presumed that this may have been a prehistoric human habitat. The cave entrance is quite small, while the inside is very large. The cave is divided into many rooms with different characteristics.

What made this an interesting tour was our guide, she was only 7 years old. She did not speak any English so Lid, our tour guide translated.

We had to walk up over 100 stairs to the entrance. John could not manage these, so he remained with the driver. Inside the caves were lots of bats and it was difficult to walk around. They are not like our Jenolan Caves but still quite interesting and worth the visit.

Another interesting fact about these caves is that they are directly behind our resort. However, due to the terrain and John's knee it was not possible to walk back to the resort, so we drove for about 20 min and then back on a boat again for 10 min trip to the Resort.

Another full day today. Tomorrow is going to be about relaxation as we will be remaining at the resort.
