    Time to Travel

    September 28, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Time for our first holiday overseas since we were dropped at Suvarnabhumi International Airport Bangkok back in 2020 when ordered to return home due to the Covid 19 Pandemic.

Bangkok is the start of the adventure then we travel to Northern Thailand over 12 days. Our tour starts with 2 nights in Bangkok before we take a boat to The Float House River Kwai, we previously stayed here but felt as it was such a quaint Hotel we just wanted to go back. We then travel by car with our driver and guide heading towards Chiang Mai, Chaing Rai, Golden Triangle visiting many temples and places of interest before leaving for an 8 day stay at a Resort in Khao Lak to relax.

Fingers crossed John's knee holds out.

    Let the Adventure begin.

  • So Bangkok

    September 28, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

All checked in, apparently upgraded, I thought it was the same room with a view of the garden. This room has a view of the city. Maybe the high floor is the upgrade. At the restaurant now for dinner, my choice is not great, but John's looks nice.

So, not off to the best start, but all good tomorrow is another day.

  • Breakfast

    September 29, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

Thought my weird diet requirements were going to be difficult. I was wrong. The Maitre de is English and understood perfectly. So eggs cooked my way with a coffee. It was like I cooked my eggs and made my own coffee. John is having full buffet breakfast. It's such a shame that I can not eat all the yummy food on offer.Read more

At the Museum we took a fortune stick reading. John number 1 and his was a good reading. Mine 14 and I was not impressed so took another one. and it was number 23 and way happier with the result.

Kau Cim is a Chinese fortune telling practice of requesting answers from the sacred oracle lot.

Kau Cim Bucket is a small bamboo handheld cylinder bucket. Kau Cim Sticks are a number of flat sticks stored in the bucket. Numbers in Chinese characters are inscribed on the stick. They resemble a wide and modified version of incense sticks. This method of fortune telling involves shaking a box full of bamboo sticks numbered 1 to 78 in such a manner that just one number would mysteriously jump out of the box.

In June 2022, Thailand decriminalised cannabis. Thai authorities believe that the removal of cannabis from Thailand’s banned narcotics list will mean a boost for local agriculture. It’s also thought that the relaxation in laws could provide a boost for tourism. However, there are some caveats that visitors to Thailand should be aware of before buying or using cannabis.
