The came entrances are often just a small hole in the ground and over the last 500,000 years or so many animals have been trapped within. The caves have provided paleontologists with a complete timeline of Australia's mega fauna. We saw skeletons of giant kangaroos, marsupial lions, thylacines, Tasmanian devils and much more. As always, the cave formations were beautiful.
We did a quick tour of Naracoorte, a pretty town with a great range of shops and facilities. A feature was the swimming lake, a large artificial lake built in the 1950s as a swimming area, complete with white sand beach.
