It nearly snowed today but didn’t quite make it. Instead it rained on and off and temperature ranged between 2 and 4 degrees- quite nice! A good lead in to testing our ability to withstand the icy temps of Norway. Did a lot of walking today- most photos today on the good camera so only. Few taken on my phone.Read more

Travelled to Helsignor today to visit Kronborg Castle today- the Home of Hamlet, only to find it closed- not to worry- it was a nice train ride, even if it was freezing up there.
Celebrated NYE at Kobyens Fiskebar in Vestebro- delcious and then went to the Tivoli- a child’s delight!! Fire works going off everywhere as they are legal over here- a lively evening all up!!Read more

After another delayed flight and luggage on another flight we finally arrived in Tromsø Norway 🇳🇴 and can fully understand why it is considered the Paris of the north- what a beautiful town and snowing was an added bonus!!Read more

Cruising to the Top - Nordkapp!

Day two in our Hurtigruten cruise of Northern Norway took us around to Honningsvag where we docked and when on a day excursion to Nordkapp or North Cape- the furtherest point north on mainland Europe. An interesting experience during the polarlys- when there is no sun until the 22 January and only a couple of hours of twilight. It’s beautiful up in this part of the world- cold, but I wouldn’t change anything- i think I was born in a cold climate in a previous life!! We have also been lucky to have seen the northern lights( although only weak ones) on both nights on the ship. Tomorrow we arrive in Kirkenes and stay at the snow ❄️ hotel and go hunting for attic king crab 🦀Read more

At the airport, having just spent the last three days in Helsinki. A beautiful city- a combination of both modern and heritage buildings. Quite an affluent city with many expensive shops- so many for a city smaller than Brisbane! Did the walk around the city as well as visited Suomenlinna island fortress and the medieval town of Porvoo, situated about and hour east of Helsinki. They had a great light show in the city the other night too called LUX.
We’ve many many nice people on our travels and run into heaps of Australians around the place- I guess where else do you go but to a cold country to escape the heat? It’s average minus 2 degrees the last few days- quite mild for them- I’ve been enjoying it a lot!
Off to the UK for our last weekend- then fly back on Monday- our holiday is nearly over😢.
