    December 3, 2023 in Morocco ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

After a very early night, a sleep in, and a morning to organise myself slightly, I began my day just after lunch and headed toward the attractions near my hotel. This was the Arab League Park, the Mohammed V Square, and finished it off with the Scared Hearts Cathedral. This was a nice walk and showed off some of the nicer parts of Casablanca. It is a great temperature in Morocco during the day, about 19 / 20 degrees, so the walk was amazing. Given that it was a Sunday, the park was full of people playing, relaxing, and enjoying others' company. I then headed to the cathedral, and although it was closed, it was still great to see from the outside. The style and architecture is in direct contrast to the rest of the city, pure white, grand, and simplistic. Whereas the rest of the city reflects the Muslim influence that has been prevalent for hundreds of years, thus why it is the dominant style. We were going to see the mosques in which this is mostly obvious tomorrow when our tour properly starts. Until then, I tried to find a bar that was playing the footy, so I could sit and have a drink. Eventually, I found somewhere, but to my shock, they didn't serve alcohol. As such, I ate my meal and left at half time to watch the rest from my hotel, where at least I could enjoy a beer. Liverpool played out an incredible 4-3 game, with 4 unreal goals scored by Liverpool players to get the win. I was switching between this game and the Chelsea vs. Brighton (ending 3-2 Chelsea) game and so missed two very late goals from Liverpool to get the win, but the game was incredible to watch regardless. Just as the Tottenham vs. Manchester City game started, so did my introduction meeting for my tour, and so I missed a large part of this game. They then invited us to a dinner around the corner, and although I had a late lunch and wasn't overly hungry, I didn't want to be rude and miss it. When we arrived, they had put the game on anyway as my tour guide, and most Moroccans, are big football fans. So it was good I didn't miss the game. This was also a great game ending 3-3. It was an incredible weekend of games, with some massive scorelines and massive games. After a small salad, we all headed back to the hotel. I called my parents briefly and discussed options for travel after Christmas. Options are plenty, and plans are very rough, so there is a bit to iron out over the next few days. I was still very tired from my lack of sleep during my flying and so headed to bed early.Read more
