Lagoon and chill

Erster Tag in Mexiko und direkt den Pelz verbrannt - nur wie kam es dazu? Naja also tatsächlich sind gewisse Gesetze daran Schuld, nicht nur meine eigene Dummheit aber dazu komme ich gleich. Da ich beim Backpacken ja spontan sein will, hatte ich erstmal keine direkten Pläne für den Tag gemacht sondern habe mich morgens an den zentralen Tisch im Hostel gehockt und wollte gucken was die anderen alle unternehmen. Man muss dazu sagen ich habe mit diesem Hostel direkt einen Volltreffer gelandet weil es super sozial war und es viele Gruppen Aktivitäten gab. Und genau so einer Gruppenaktivität habe ich mich angeschlossen. Im Program stand zu einer der vielen tükisfarbenen Lagunen zu gehen, diese hier nannte sich Laguna de Kaan Luum. Diese Lagune ist Teil einer Cenote, die durch den Aufprall des Meteoriten vor 66 Millionen Jahren nahe Yucatans entstanden ist. In ganz Yucatan kann man diese Süßwasser Cenoten finden, die durch den Druck des verdunsteten Wassers beim Aufprall des Meteoriten entstanden sind.
Da diese Cenoten sehr einzigartige und sensible Ökosysteme haben, ist es verboten jegliche Sonnencreme im Areal zu verwenden. Jetzt könnt ihr euch vorstellen, wie viele weiße Europäer nach paar Stunden im Wasser unter der tropischen Sonne aussehen...komplett rot und verbrannt. Manche sahen so rot aus, dass es mir beim anschauen schon weh getan hat. Ich habe deswegen versucht so weit es ging mit dem Körper unter Wasser zu bleiben aber naja man kann sich vorstellen wie das am Ende ausgeht - verbrannt haha. Aber es war mega nice und ich habe viele neue Leute kennengelernt. Danach ging es als Gruppe direkt zu einem sehr schönem outdoor Restaurant mit köstlichem essen. Nach einem Schläfchen im klimatisierten Hostel sind paar von uns noch als Gruppe in eine Rooftop bar gegangen und haben noch paar kalte Getränke zu uns genommen und die Abendsonne genossen.

First day in Mexico and immediately burned my skin - but how did it happen? Well, certain laws are actually to blame, not just my own stupidity, but I'll come to that in a moment. As I want to be spontaneous when backpacking, I hadn't made any direct plans for the day, but instead sat at the central table in the hostel in the morning and wanted to see what everyone else was doing. It has to be said that I hit the bull's eye with this hostel because it was super social and there were lots of group activities. And I joined one of these group activities. The program was to go to one of the many turquoise lagoons, this one was called Laguna de Kaan Luum. This lagoon is part of a cenote that was formed by the impact of a meteorite 66 million years ago near Yucatan. These freshwater cenotes can be found all over the Yucatan, formed by the pressure of the evaporated water from the impact of the meteorite.
As these cenotes have very unique and sensitive ecosystems, it is forbidden to use any sunscreen in the area. Now you can imagine how many white Europeans look after a few hours in the water under the tropical sun...completely red and burnt. Some looked so red that it hurt me just to look at them. I tried to keep my body under water as much as possible but well, you can imagine how that ends up - burnt haha. But it was really nice and I got to know lots of new people. Afterwards, the group went straight to a very nice outdoor restaurant with delicious food. After a nap in the air-conditioned hostel, a few of us went as a group to a rooftop bar and had a few more cold drinks and enjoyed the evening sun.Read more
