Bye Las Vegas, Hello Mammoth Lakes

We had to check out if our hotel in Vegas by 10am but it was a blessing in disguise because it meant we had plenty of time to explore some of the vista spots in Death Valley.

However, nothing quite prepared you for the heat. Yes I know it's a desert, but it really is intense and stifling.

We made an unscheduled stop at Zabrinskie Point to take some photos before heading on to Furnace Creek for some lunch (I had an amazing Turkey Club sandwich!)

Then on past Stovepipe Wells and back onto the main highway towards Mammoth Lakes.

We arrived at The Village Lodge resort and hotel about 19:15. The room was really lovely and cozy, complete with balcony. There was some really cool rock music playing outside to kick off a weekend of Labor Day celebrations, but it finished about 8pm.

At this point, tiredness had really kicked in so we headed down to the restaurant within the resort and shared a handmade wood oven cooked pizza.
