• Bran Castle without Dracula 🧛‍♂️

Well Dracula must be spoiled for choice as to who he wants to suck blood from. The queue for Bran’s Castle (also known as Dracula’s Castle) was intense. I arrived when the castle opened and the queue was already an hour long to get in. I bought the full pass including the torture museum and time travelling elevator. In for a penny in for a lei.

It was a case of just moving from room to room with the flow of people, with not much time to take anything in. I took photos of the stuff to read for later as it would cause a roadblock to read anything. Things I enjoyed - the secret staircase, balcony area and the view. Things I didn’t like - the people. Was way too busy.

The wood, stone, maze like layout and the interior courtyard balcony were all cool architectural features. Invaders obviously don’t have a tour group to follow so would find it hard to get around I reckon.

I did the extra add on of the torture museum (got some home decor inspiration there) and the time travelling elevator (a bit of fun). Neither are really essential, but the elevator is an express way out of the castle.

So Dracula. Well that’s all fake obviously and even Vlad the impaler barely spent a night here so all the horror that goes with it is all a fantasy. Other than the odd ghost projection and a dragon in the elevator it was pretty much just about the castles role as a toll collector in the gorge. Strategically well placed and the steep hill top castle would need a fit as f**k army to get up to the door.

I guess it’s one of those places you go to for the experience but wow did I mention it was busy!
