We walked altogether down to the bus station to see Abby & Eric off, stopping first for some coffee. But the place was so slammed, and there were only 2 servers, so we just caught some fresh air at a table. 😜
We got our cafe con leche and croissant at the bus station cafeteria. Gave big hugs goodbye, and when we walked out of the station, we decided to follow the river downstream a bit since there was such a nice walkway next to it. That's when we found the bull ring, now used as an event space.
We got to what we thought would be the end in a bit, so we crossed over and started walking in the opposite direction. We walked all the way to where the Camino yellow arrows pick up, and followed them across this lovely stone pedestrian bridge.
Then Joe got the notion to follow the yellow arrows to the edge of town, so we did just that. Turned back and walked along that side of the river, back to the bus station. Crossed the river again, and turned back, retracing our earlier steps.
By this time, it had passed 3pm, and I felt we had completed our requisite 3-hour walk, so we started looking for a spot for lunch. Found it at the square we'd eaten in last night, but tried a different restaurant. IT WAS FANTASTIC. The house salad was simply dressed with high-quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Joe wanted to try the hake "casserole," which also was FAB. With cerveza con limón, it was perfect. But not so perfect that we couldn't order some postre, this time a chocolate "tarta," which turned out to have the texture of a firm flan, a hint of Nutella, and hazelnuts. Wow. Just had to get a cafe con leche to go with it. 😋
Though I was ready for Snuzz-ville, we decided to go see Gaudí's Casa Botines across the plaza. So super fab, I'm giving it its own footprint here.
Made our way home to read and catch up on messages. Listened to the pouring rain, and we're hoping for dry skies when it's our turn in Santiago in a couple of days.Read more
