Did laundry in the morning, so we could hang it out to dry on the east-facing clothesline in the morning sun
Headed out to check out the twice weekly farmers market . . . which is not just farmers, but cheese and sausage makers as well as sellers of scarves, jackets and - yes! - underwear!
Lots of folks pulling the wheeled baskets
Joe loved selecting a bag of different olives from the olive seller 🫒
Dropped off purchases at the apartment and then waited in San Martín plaza for Kathy, Eric's friend from the Bangor Daily News in the '90s-2000s.
Kathy placed the order for raciones at lunch. All very yummy with a couple of bottles of house red.
Walked a bit. Stopped in at the crypt which had stones from the Roman times thermal baths and toilets
Walked down to the San Marcos Parador for coffee and dessert (almond tarte - more yum)
Talked about Kathy's experience living in Oviedo (in Northern Spain) and Seville, and about her experiences as a hospitaleira at various albergues
Walked along the river's multi-level park, and then up towards the Cathedral
Stopped for a glass of Rioja red before Kathy had to dash off for her 10pm bus home
Brought in our chilly, but now dry laundry from the windows
Where else can you wander, drink, eat, wander some more, drink, talk for hours, drink & eat, and wander some more, just to sit and share a glass of fine wine?
