Day 29: Berlin to Chrzanow - Poland

Visited the Berlin war memorial before hitting the road. Although it was 500kms to Auschwitz, Grah and I decided we just really wanted to go there. So today we mostly travelled. Our longest drive yet.En savoir plus
Day 30: Chrvanow to Ostrava

Visited Auschwitz and Auschwitz - Birkenau. Our guide was local and amazing. Thought I’d be more emotional but I was just silenced by the enormity of it all. Too surreal to be real but it is. MovingEn savoir plus
Day 31: Ostrava to Bratislava

Covered three countries today. Walked around the lake where we stayed. Hit the town centre and had lunch parked by the river. Took the scenic route to Bratislava including bars by the river, castles,En savoir plus
Day 32: Bratislava to Modling

We nearly didn’t go into Bratislava but thank god we did. Great city walk and history. Walked up St Michaels tower and spent hours in the castle and the museum including one of the best three courseEn savoir plus
Day 33: Vienna

So much to do and we didn’t get it all done but we were always staying another day. Walked to castle ruins in the nature park where we stayed. Train to Vienna. Belvedere palace, Beethoven statue andEn savoir plus
Day 34: Vienna to Salzburg.

Spent another wonderful day in Vienna be it drizzly and cool. Visited the Beethoven museum and the Mozart monument. Met a wonderful lady on the bus who told us about the spectacular parliamentEn savoir plus
Day 35: Salzburg

Spent a fantastic day in Salzburg. Sound of music tour was everything I wanted it to be. Our guide was superb and that is so important. Markets. Mozart museum. Castle wall walks. Tired and we hungryEn savoir plus
Day 36: Salzburg to Villach

This was gonna be a lazy do laundry day but Grah found a cable car up the mountain range instead near the small town of Grödig. The cable cars take 45 people and both times we were lucky to be theEn savoir plus
Day 37: Villach to Ljublijana

Clean up day and laundry today. It was a public holiday anyway so literally nothing open. Had lunch at a pub followed by a city walk. Went through the mountain range and discovered a post Cold WarEn savoir plus
Day 37: Mauthausen

Visited this concentration camp in memory of our neighbour Barb whose father was a survivor.
Day 38: Ljubljana to Zagreb

Wasn’t feeling the vibe in Ljubljana so onward to Croatia. Stopped in a town very proud of its heritage called Brezice. After a late brekky we walked the town including a stop at the castle museumEn savoir plus
Day 39: Zagreb

Went to the botanical park. A little bit of shopping and yes Graham bought something! Investigated “old town” and was enjoying it so much we stayed another night. Back to “our favourite” RamonEn savoir plus
Day 40: Zagreb to Zadar

Stopped at a town for groceries and had an extended walk around. Took the lazy way to Zadar and discovered a bikie bar for a drink and an hour later a restaurant in the middle of nowhere serving lambEn savoir plus
Day 41: Zadar to Nin

Luv this place. Finally a proper swim. Bloody stones everywhere. Grah was a superstar on the 10m platform but unfortunately perforated his eardrum on entry. I was lucky to find the hottest female docEn savoir plus
Day 42: Nin to Sibenik

Morning hike across to an island. Water had lowered overnight and we found an old church. Shock. Morning swim then a lazy drive to Sibenik. So far wineries have been a bust. Awesome lunch at someEn savoir plus
Day 43: Sibebik to Zadar

Didn’t like this camp spot so much. A little noisy. Climbed up to St John fort. This also got us entry to Fort Barone. This had an AI guide which was cool. Laundry day followed by parking and sunsetEn savoir plus
Day 44: Zadar to Lokva

The day was beautiful. Beach time. We swam in front of the Falkensteiner club. Less crowded. A little stony but we found some clear patches. Ate burgers at the Beach bar. Best onion rings and chickenEn savoir plus
Day 45: Lovka to Palazzolo dello Stella

Continued the great coast rd. Had a drink (and ice cream graham) at the Senj castle museum. Had a swim at Kraljevica- Carovo beach. Had to stop at a town as weather had turned to rain and hail/snow asEn savoir plus
Day 46: Palazzolo Della Stella to Venice

On our backstreet drive to Venice we passed more wineries. I spotted a huge market at Latisana. We bought some gear but the best was the fried prawns and squid. So light and perfectly cooked. WeEn savoir plus
Day 47: Venice Day 2

What a difference a day makes. Cold rainy and miserable today. We visited the da Vinci exhibition and areas of Venice we didn’t explore yesterday. After an early dinner at the Aperol bar we were done.
Day 48: Venice to Bologna

Enjoyed our last proper shower. Shopped and the clouds were black. Managed to avoid most of the rain. Ate lunch at a big green hotel in a suburb of Ferrara. It was so nice we each had three courses. IEn savoir plus

Day 50: Cervia to San Marino

Went down to the beach to see 40,000 plus different umbrella stands along the beach. Thousands of people walking along the beach but I was one of 5 actually in the water. Drove to San Marino. CaughtEn savoir plus
Day 51: San Marino day 2.

Had a wonderful day exploring tower 2 and 3. Museums, art galleries. Sunsets. Museum of torture. I’m fkn exhausted.
