Arrival in Cairns

Today we finally arrived in Australia! 🥳🇦🇺✈️ We decided to start our journey in the north of Australia, in Cairns.
After a very long and way too strict security check (you have to declare things such as walnuts & birth control pill and they even clean your hiking boots) we left the airport and had breakfast. Only after that we were able to deal with stuff like getting an Australian phone number, bank account and applying for your TFN (tax file number). Luckily, we stayed at a German old couple's place for a few days, who helped us with all the paperwork.
Of course, we also checked up what the Australian supermarkets offer and if it’s really that expensive. And yes, foods such as milk products, chocolate (!!!), cereals and fruits are more expensive in contrast to Germany. But therefore, stores like Coles and Woolworth have many weekly offers and tuna is cheaper than in Germany, for instance. 🤤
Later we also searched for a car in Cairns and even found one for $4700 (2800€).Read more
