Lazio to vesuvius

Last night in Rietti we stayed over in a Guest House on the top floor with lots of stairs. As if this was not enough we had to open and close a series (4) of doors and gates with a hand full of keys and then the same story out again. Needless to say we only went out once, and that was for dinner.
Left very early as we had a long day ahead (350km). Drove through the Lazio region with its impressive mountains, hill-top towns and windy roads. Liam had a field day again and me hanging on for dear life. The Merc did its job and many other teams had mechanical issues (still have at the time of writing). A cheap breakfast was a double epresso and Croissants in Filettino, in the Monti Simbruini national park. From there we went back down the Mountain to Geata next to the coast where we had sea food for lunch.
From Geata we steamed past Naples and did not stop for Pizza as instructed. Naples traffic is not for the faint hearted, if Liam's language is anything to go by. Home tonight is a beatiful Hotel with a view of Mont Vesuvius and Pompeii in the distance. She looks dormant and I am sure there will be no fireworks tonight.
As a side note - Liam's support, to me, during this trip is phenomenal and he really sets a high bar for any young man. He's my boy......Læs mere
