    Island Hop

    September 17, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

We enjoy a relaxing morning with a cup of coffee by the ocean. There is a nice breeze to keep you cool. We packed most of our bags yesterday. It’s not that easy to put everything where it was the first time. It was pretty tight but we made it all fit.

On our way to the airport we stop by Iao Valley State Park. The “Needle” aka the “phallus” is located in this park. They used to go to the top during war to watch for enemy troops. It’s a quick little walk.

We head over to Kahului where the airport is located. We still have some time to spare so we look for a beach to enjoy lunch. We find a nice one where we see some folk sailing with kites on a wing type board. The ones where the board comes out of the water by using a windfoil. The beach has white super soft sand. It feels good on the feet. With a bit of time left we find a place for shaved ice 🍧. It’s a really popular desert here that we have to try for ourselves. They do not disappoint, mine was excellent and so was Ben’s. His even had some macadamia ice cream at the bottom. Next time, I will get that combo.

At the airport, We take the plane to hop from Maui to Kauai. It’s the older and most northern island of Hawaii. Some say that it’s the most beautiful one. We shall visit and find out.

Our flight is uneventful, thankfully 😅, we pick up our rental vehicle 🚗 and go for supplies. We need some food and gas for our burner. We will be 2 days on a trail in the northern part of the island to hike the Kalalau trail. It’s supposed to be the most famous hike in the whole state.

After supplies we find a place for supper where we split fish tacos and fish and chip. They were good but not as good as the ones on the road to Hana which was from a street vendor. We arrive at our AirBnB, pack our bags and head to bed. Another great hike awaits tomorrow.
