Absolute shocker to start the trip. It all went down hill when I got catfished by Air Asia after sitting on the plane and noticing TVs and phone chargers on the back of each seat, only to realise 15 minutes into the trip that none of them worked. Then proceeded to spend the next 2 nights and 34hours locked in the KL airport after watching my flight leave without me because my visa didn't get approved in time. I did however get to enjoy many hours in massage chairs and the buisness lounge to help pass the time.Read more

    Ninh Binh

    November 11, 2023 in Vietnam ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

Very scenic place, was staying out in the sticks a bit but it was a lovely, quiet hotel so a nice chance to relax and settle in after a busy few days. Luckily the hotel had bikes so I was able to do heaps of riding around through the village and town. Did the Trang An marathon (10k) here which was an awesome event and location to run around. I think I was the only English speaking person to come to this village based on the amount of people suprised so see me and lack of English spoken.Read more

    Ha Long

    November 13, 2023 in Vietnam ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

This place was pretty awesome, really nice city that was clean, super friendly locals and had plenty to see without being too busy. Did some serious walking exploring this place, only complaint is the night markets were closed both nights I was here. The Halong Bay tour was pretty magical, some of the best views I think you will ever see. Can definitely see why it's one of the 10 natural wonders of the world. Splashed the cash to have a nice tour boat that was definitely justified by the sunset cocktail in the jacuzzi on the way back. I was also adopted by a couple from Townsville and a Group of Mums from the Gold Coast on a motorbike tour for the day which was very funnyRead more

    Bangkok

    November 16, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 32 °C

Public transport was a bit more confusing here than Vietnam, got on and off the wrong bus twice in Bangkok before I gave up and decided that the train would be much easier (It was). I think I must have set some sort of record at the buffet breakfast here where I seriously impressed/ shocked all the waiters who kept trying to take my plate away, only for me to come back with more food. Went to Benchakkiti park which was pretty cool, a massive quiet forest in the middle of a busy city. Also I think I discovered the biggest shopping complex I have ever seen. I couldn't actually get to the top floor due to my fear of heights preventing me going up anymore escalators. The night markets here are unreal and had some great food. Also walked past part of the weekend markets which are some of the biggest in the world covering over 27 acres, but didn't have time to enter that maze.Read more

    Phitsanulok

    November 18, 2023 in Thailand ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

The bus here was absolute torture for the first 2 hours, after having a chocolate milk with breaky and having to try to hold in the overwhelming urge to shit myself for nearly 2 hours, before I realised there was a very small toilet on the bus. Phitsanulok was a serious rollercoaster after getting dropped of the bus on the outskirts of the city I thought I had made a serious mistake, however after entering the city it was actually very nice and my hotel was unreal. Explored more night market and got ready for International run #2. Only a smaller group running this time but it was heaps of fun with all the locals super friendly. Still don't really know how it happened but ended up in some small little shack in the bush with about 10-12 Thai people who spoke a combined total of about 10 words of English. Spent the day singing Karoke and eating lots of good food (Except the spicey dish that crueled me and some gross Sardine thing). Was a very interesting experience to say the least, also explored some Chinese temples in the mountains on the way back to the Hotel.Read more
