Venice & Murano

Onto the Italian leg of the holiday - first stop Venice. Here we leave the van at a campsite in Fusina and get a ferry to Venice.

However … slight delay due to an electrical fault with the van! After a few hours head scratching, exhausting Joes tool box and a sleepless night, a detour was needed to a little rural Italian town to a specific Chausson garage!

Stressful to say the least and we thought we wouldn’t make it to Venice. But thanks to a little Italian technician and a very helpful lady translating for us we are back on track, albeit a few hours later! Back to Fusina we go!

Finally Venice bound and due to the late arrival we added an extra night in the hotel!

Powered by espressos we spent the day walking the streets of Venice, indulging on some tasty Italian snacks and sipping wine in quaint little side street bars.

In the evening we took a gondola ride. Our guide Matteo took us down some cute narrow canals, navigating under tiny bridges, before heading on to the grand canal (Venice’s version of the M62 - but much prettier!)

Finished our evening with some more yummy Italian food! A fab day all round - leaving Venice with tired feet but full and happy! 🍝 🍷Read more
