• Christchurch Punt and Tram

    May 26, 2025 in New Zealand ⋅ 🌙 10 °C

Having settled to sleep at 6pm.last night, I woke at 1am and was awake till about 4am.Slept then till 10am and dawdled about till 11ish, a morning routine similar to being with my Tattoo traveller friends Ann Mags and Kofo .
Once I got going!🤣...I went in search of the Punt on the River Avon ,reminiscent of the Avon in Stratford and punting ,which i experienced years ago on the River Cam with 2 Italian lads...
Noone really seemed to know where it was,but I eventually found it....Fabulous experience, with the punter dressed in bowter hat and blazer ...the boat weighs half a ton and we moved surprisingly quickly. It's nice to be back in a country where English is widely spoken though the Kiwis pronounce all vowels in a way they appear to be using the letter i ....as it sounds in the word big ...I'm adjusting to the twang. The calm of Christchurch is lovely too after the chaos of Cambodia Sri Lanka and Indonesia....there's no random stuff happening here....but those places that have it are extremely entertaining 😀!🤣🤦‍♀️
After the ride i went into the Boat shed cafe and had their version of a full English....I had Sausages ....my ! They were good....not had Sausage since left home in March!..but not made me homesick
Collected a muffin and a brew to go and went in search of the hop on Hop.off tram 🚊 The driver was giving an incoherent description of things ,but when his colleague took over ,he was much better so I went round again and learnt much more...its only a small place anyway.
While on the tram I heard a guy talking in an English accent and asked where he came from,..reply..born in Salford (snap..me too) lived in Chorlton! His dad was in care home in Bolton. He's been in Nz for 20yrs still missing Manchester.
A pleasant afternoon. On returning to my accommodation I've been doing penguins, wots app chats and holiday planning for more places after I pop into the UK 🇬🇧....briefly.
