The wait is over .Skydive day

Finally the wait is over and I took to the skies and jumped out of the plane at 12000 feet ..20yrs after I first did it in Taupo New Zealand.
Had to wait for confirmation that it was going ahead which only happens half an hour before you are due to arrive at the shop .This is so the most up to date weather is assessed at close to your jump time as possible
Arrived at the shop in Queenstown, various formalities and safety briefings before going on a 20min minibus ride to the Skydive centre .

It was -20degrees outside and despite having a buff,the wind was biting initially, but at least I don't look like a bad day at the dentist with my cheeks puffed up unlike last time.
Getting into the gear and then into the plane straddling the seat ,being strapped to a man I'd only just met....and then seeing others jump out and disappear at 9000ft ...brought all the memories back.
At this point did feel slightly queasy and bit nervous but overall it was a better experience than 1st time ..At least I didn't try walking in the air (as in kicking my legs furiously like last time 😅...as if that was going to save me!🤣.....not !)
Didn't feel the massive rush of adrenaline that I did the 1st time ,rather a strange sense of anti climax ....maybe cos I've waited so long to do it and it's over so very quickly.g
Half an hour later I was back in Queenstown craving a full English breakfast for some reason .
The restaurant i knew did it had stopped serving it ,but God bless the Irish pub ! Who were still serving breakfast till 4pm.There was a fire and a vacant table...perfect! Only glitch was no cup of tea!...the lovely young guy behind the bar,to whom i had told my story suddenly appeared with a mug saying its one of his own tea bags as he appreciated i needed to warm up...it was so kind ,it was also disgusting pot pourri flavour tea bag and no milk but I drank it as didn't want to offend...I'm much better at eating and drinking random stuff after the experiences on this trip.
I went to the incredibly popular bakery and got wicked chocolate cake and snacks before returning to my accommodation...for the remainder of the day .Læs mere
