1st stop Lisbon

A mega early start of 2.30am to ensure i caught the 6.30am.flight to Lisbon
At the airport ,isaw my friend Paula ,quite by chance
Arriving in Lisbon which has a huge airport ,I was transferred to my hotel by Mario...He pulled up at the side of the main rd and said ,your hotel is down there,the one with the two flags 🤣
It turned out to be up 2 flights of steep steps...In terms of check in I was far too early and although knackered couldnt have the room till 2pm
I left my bag and went down into the square ,where i had a ham and cheese roll orange juice and tea
There is a lovely ambience in the square
I wandered further,towards the river
The main square is impressive ...beautiful buildings and clearly preparing for new years eve with a huge stage
I called at the tourist information for some advice ..and to use the loo ...which cost 5 euros
I walked down to the waterfront and saw a display of figures including a nativity scene made out of pebbles ..I then enjoyed a river cruise which included passing under a huge bridge ,past a statue of Christ the Redeemer ...and a monument known as the monument of discovery..The Balem castle was the point at which we turned to return
On arriving back in Commerce square i went to check out new years eve cruises as id been told it would be possible to see the new year fireworks from a boat on the river...I didnt book as concerned re finding right boat and also getting back after the event
Then ,i spotted the most unlikely attraction...the worlds sexiest loo!
Curiosity got the better of me....using it was 4euros ....
Time for food ,so pizza and a glass of red in v nice restaurant.It was just about warm enough to sit out
