Hello 2026

Following on from the New year's eve celebrations when ultimately i decided to stay in and watch the fireworks from my room enjoy a room service meal ....I had a lazy start to 2026....mainly txting everyone..
I was delighted that my driver and my guide from.india ,both txt to say happy new year and that they miss me ...
I also had messages from new friends in Oz and Nz
Photos from my new usa friends from the tour yesterday ,served to confirm the crowds were huge and I ,more than likely made the right decision
Id put the big ben chimes on my phone to call the new year in but lisbon called it ,with the fireworks exploding about 30seconds before the big ben chime!
The fireworks were fabulous
Around lunchtime I got ready to go for a walk ,but it started raining ,so i postponed till the rain stopped
Before going out I went along to the roof top restaurant, only to be told theyd stopped serving food . I sneaked up to the rooftop bar,where the staff were clearly shocked to see me😅 as it was closed today...
I went to a local coffee shop.and had a very rich chocolate cake slice and tea
I wandered to the river,in search of hotels that are nearer to Commerce sq ...where all the action was, last night. Didnt have much success but good to have walkabout
Eventually returned to my room. At 8pm.ish i.went to the panoramic restaurant to be told there was no availability.....so i had room service....again...This is the only hotel i have stayed at that charges to bring food to the room !Read more
