Organizational day-
We stocked up on groceries and found out that the heat and time change means most of us need a nap by the afternoon! We had lunch at a nearby Thai restaurant and walked across the street to the beach. Dianna, Cari's para and best friend, and Cindy made a delicious spaghetti dinner with garlic bread and Cari was very thankful after a 6.5 mile walk! Cindy and Cari went to their mandatory Worldmark meeting. Tomorrow begins serious sight-seeing!もっと詳しく
Our day trip to Haleakala was a tremendous display of Cindy's driving ability up to 10,000 feet on switchbacks. We ate lunch at the Visitor Center at 7000 feet. Mom amazed us by walking on a real trail to get to the picnic table. Perhaps it was the 65 degrees and shining sun that inspired her! After our picnic lunch, we continued going up and we were soon above the clouds! You could see Hawaii, Lanai, and Molokai from the top.
Afterwards, Mom made spaghetti for dinner while Cari snorkeled and Dianna watched the sunset. Another perfect day in paradise.もっと詳しく
Every trip Cindy and I try to do one Big Event... something special. Today we took a paid tour on the Road to Hana... with 620 curves and 46 one lane bridges.
The tour included cultural information, traditional stories, lessons on the Hawaiian language, many stops to purchase food and crafts from locals and visits to waterfalls. There was an opportunity to swim in the waterfalls but I passed as it was freezing cold. We stopped at Black Sand Beach where Cari snorkeled and they provided lunch then proceeded to Turtle Town where many turtles pulled out to bask. Finally, we stopped at a traditional taro farm.
Throughout the day we stopped at 4 State Parks too! It was a 9 hour adventure beginning at 6:50 AM. The weather was perfect as it was much cooler in the rainforest. The vegetation looked prehistoric with large vines hanging down everywhere, bromeliads in the trees, and huge leaves.もっと詳しく
Today we drove up to Lahaina. There are many places you cannot get to and physical check points to keep people out. We stopped at a mall and spent some money and ate at a food truck to make a small difference. We were surprised at how little has been done in over a year but I suppose it takes a long time for insurance and permits. The news said the first family moved in just this week!
We drove up to Kapalua looking for a good snorkeling beach but the tides had already turned around and the waves were too high. It was a fun day with beautiful views.もっと詳しく
Our last full day in Maui... how does time go by so quickly? I wish I spent more time in the water 🌊🌊... and sitting on the beach. I bet I was a sea turtle 🐢 in my last life!
I went snorkeling 🤿 in the morning and saw small zebra fish and live coral for the first time. We celebrated with a Hawaiian Shave Ice and Papaya filled with Chia pudding. Yummy
Back at the condo we were entertained by Myna birds. Then Dianna, Cari, and Mom went to the Maui Tropical Plantation for a walk through the amazing plants.
We all went to Mass at St. Theresa and celebrated our final night with Mexican food at Fred's. Another wonderful day 💕もっと詳しく
旅行者I once went grocery shopping in Maui and found a rooster like this sitting in a grocery cart in the parking lot. Bold fella!
旅行者Did you buy him at a discount?
