Milford Sound

Nach einer relativ kurzen Nacht, sind wir in Richtung Moosburn, um von dort aus dann in den KiwiBus zu steigen und dann über Te Anau nach Milford zu fahren. Dabei fuhren wir durch den Fiordland Nationalpark. Einer der größten Nationalparks hier in Neuseeland. Er die gleiche Größe wie Wales. Durch 3 Täler und über einige Berge aber auch durch viel zu enge Tunnel führte uns die einzige Straße im Park, bis wir dann nach ca. 2 Stunden Fahrt am Hafen von Milford Sound angekommen sind. Langweilig wurde die Fahrt bei der Aussicht natürlich nicht. Dort angekommen sind wir auch schon aufs Boot gehüpft und sind los geschippert. Dieser Kanal, oder was auch immer das genau ist, führte uns durch eine gigantische Schlucht, wenn man es so nennen kann. Hohe Klippen, ein paar Wasserfälle und einen in den wir sogar hinein gefahren sind. Absichtlich natürlich. Das dauerte alles nicht mal 2 Stunden und dann hieß es auch schon wieder zurück nach Queenstown. Nach ein paar Fotostops und einigen Stunden des Fahrens und ein paar guten Gesprächen und Witzen, sind wir dann in Queenstown angekommen.
Der Fiordland NP, Milford Sound eingeschlossen, ist so ziemlich mein Lieblingsort hier in Neuseeland. Viele Berge, Wasser, Wasserfälle, Wälder, Schluchten. Einfach wunderschön!

After a really short night we made our way to Moosburn to get picked up by the KiwiBus. We made our way through Te Anau to the Fiordland National Park and to Milford Sound. Fiordland is one of the biggest NPs in New Zealand and has approximately the same size as Wales. The only existing road in this Park took within 2 hours through really narrow tunnels, valleys, over mountains, one way bridges and we passed a couple of waterfalls. It was definitely not boring with that view.
Arriving at Milford we immediately checked in and hopped on the ferry which took us through Milford Sound. Massive cliffs at the edge of the water, a couple of waterfalls and we even got so close to one that we got wet which was quite fun but quite cold as well. Our ferry ride was not even 2 hrs and we made our way back to Queenstown. A couple of photo stops, good convos and bad jokes later, we arrived in Queenstown.
Fiordland including Milford was probably one of the most stunning places I've been to so far. Definitely need to come back to do some hikes and check out the park while pouring rain or in Winter. All the mountains, waterfalls, valleys, forests, gorges. Just beautiful!Read more
