Day 41. Made it to Fonfria

Arrived at 17:30h - 17 km. Apart from the first difficult up to O Cebreiro there were another two fairly difficult, but shortish ones to Alto de San Roque and to Alto do Poio. Both justified a long pause. Came across another church in Hospital de la Condesa just like the one in Liñares and a tiny one in Padernelo - its inside is being done up. And then I stopped taking photos - takes too much time - except for a final landscape in the evening sun to change from the many I have taken in the morning.

Joint evening meal for the pilgrims here and bed.

PS. Going up to Alto do Poio takes a few hundred metres of which the last ones leading up to a bar are so steep that I found them almost undoable. As I was struggling it occurred to me for the first time "What if my heart gives up and there will be another one of those plaques you come across by the wayside: 'In memoriam...' of whoever died there....?"Read more
