    Rockhampton

    July 10, 2022 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 5 °C

It was a lovely morning - Frankie had me outside about 6.30. The sun was just coming up, although it was very cold. The mist was rising off the river, and it was beautiful.
Alan, another caravaner came over as promised after Ian asked him the possible cause of our brakes playing up - as well as the light. Ian had already sorted the problem, however Alan told us of the market across the river and we walked over to see. If I had had the money I would have bought the 3 cedar wood wall carvings of jumping kangeroos ($350). They were in the same vein as the 3 pheasants or 3 pigs on the wall at home. Too expensive though. We headed off for Rockhampton Country Club Accomodation. They had one site left - another difficult site to get into, but Ian is getting very good at all this, and for $23 it did for the night. We unhooked and headed into town. The Tourist Board had just closed, but we picked up a leaflet on a walking tour of artist works along the waterfront. It wasn't very long, with some miniature brass houses on stands among the garden beds. The walk was pleasant, but at times confronting as we walked through groups of aboringinals keeping themselves warm by turning on the gas bbq''s and drinking. They were all pleasant to us though. It was also significant that we had crossed the tropic of Capricorn....days should get warmer from now.Read more
