    Crystal Caves in Atherton

    What a gem Crystal Caves was. The guy who owned this museum, René, was so passionate about his gems and crystals, that he built his own cave to showcase them all. It was really well done. The photo's don't do it justice (because it was so dark inside it didn't look as fake as the photos show.) The best thing was the kids were allowed to touch everything! We got to crack open a 44 million year old geode, that came from the Las Choyas mine in Mexico. It was basically a lucky dip with the lady at the store telling us that the lighter the rock, the better it should be. We got a beautiful smoky quartz crystal. The kids each brought their own crystals and some small rocks as well.Read more
