  • Vila Belvedere

    May 28 in Albania ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Albanians adore kids, more than any other country we've ever visited, so all the staff at the hotel and locals we met out and about were always making a huge fuss of both the kids, lots of kisses and cheek pinching 😂 which both these attention seekers loved 🥰Read more

  • Portez Beach

    May 28 in Albania ⋅ ☀️ 34 °C

We went to a quiet more secluded beach. On the way we saw a tortoise walking along the road! Nixie liked to eat the sand but didn't really like touching it, we found a crab and Caz found a hat in the sea 😂 Nixie had her first paddle and then we found some birds nesting on the cafe ceilingRead more

  • The last supper

    May 28 in Albania ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

The day before the wedding we all went for a traditional Albanian meal so Elliott and Tatis families met. Lennon saw a cat catch a lizard, it was a thousand degrees, the window blind fell and whacked Brace on the head, and the 4 of us ate and had a beer for less than £10 😂Read more

  • Elliott's Wedding

    May 29 in Albania ⋅ 🌙 31 °C

A beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking the Albanian coast, spoken in English, Portuguese and Albanian, with a song from Elliott's brother Lewis. Lenny caught a lizard who promptly detached it's tail which led to a very sorry Lennon 😅 We spotted some camels! Then inside for a ridiculous amount of meat and tasty food, and the LOUDEST music and dancing in true Albanian style.Read more

  • Durres Beach

    May 30 in Albania ⋅ 🌙 26 °C

We spent the day with Kelly, Caz and Mike. Lennon slipped on a wet floor back at the hotel and banged his head... Everyone was panicking he was concussed and needed to go to hospital but instead he wanted to go out for a late dinner, so we went back to the beach and Lennon had a great time eating all the bits of a fish that people usually leave 😅Read more

  • Nixie's 1st Birthday 🥳

    May 31 in Albania ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

Happy Birthday Nixie! Lots of attention at the hotel, followed by ice cream and arcade games at the beach. Later on due to the language barrier the poor girl ended up with raw shrimp and raw beef for her birthday dinner 🤢 which she actually seemed less offended by than the rest of us 😅Read more

  • Mount Dajti

    June 1 in Albania ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

We took the cable car up mount Dajti which both children were amazed by. It's not like a typical mountain trip where you reach the top and look at the view, it's very built up with activities for tourists and you don't actually get very close to the top. We found out Lennon is basically the happy Gilmore of crazy golf... No technique but bizarrely good at it 😂Read more

  • Durres city

    June 1 in Albania ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

A look around Durres which almost melted me 😅 followed by the nicest meal we had all trip, a traditional Albanian restaurant just a couple of minutes down the road from our hotel. The kids enjoyed the playground which has bunnies and peacocks in the corner!Read more

  • Berat

    June 2 in Albania ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

One of 4 UNESCO heritage sites in Albania, we chose the hottest part of the day to trek up a steep, cobbled hill, Brace pushing the pram and me and Lennon just trying to survive 😂 Lennon had 3 ice creams that day to keep him going upwards 😂
We got some strawberries near the top and the lady washed them and Lennon's hands for him. Lots of cats and handmade clothes and ornaments being sold all the way up. Then at the bottom we saw a dog who looked like Esther 🥰

  • The last evening

    June 2 in Albania ⋅ 🌙 26 °C

After a quick swim to cool down, we went to eat back at the beach where they have lots of little kids playgrounds. Afterwards we met up with Mike and his parents for a beer at his favourite beach bar that played house music 😂 before Lennon had ANOTHER ice cream on the way home 😂Read more

  • Bunkart 1

    June 3 in Albania ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

There are approximately 175,000 underground bunkers in Albania! You see small domes all over the place but there are 2 large ones that are particularly well known. We visited the largest one, in Tirana, 'Bunkart 1'. It has 5 floors! There was even a classroom for the officers kids, a shop for them to get their food and a large theatre type assembly hall.

It was nice and cool down there but there was also a really strong smell of some kind of spicy incense/perfume.

  • Latitude Trampoline Park

    June 3 in Albania ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

After the bunker we went for a drink and a sandwich next door then we went to a trampoline park for somewhere the kids could use up some energy in the shade before our flight home

  • Flying home

    June 4 in Albania ⋅ 🌩️ 29 °C

I didn't get any proper photos but I wanted to record our crazy journey home so we remember it in future 😅

We arranged to drop our rental car back off at 5pm, the man didn't turn up until 6pm. Luckily after just a week in Albania I had suspected he would be incredibly late so I had allowed an extra hour so as to not miss our flight home... As we sat in the car waiting for him a few drops of rain came

Once through the airport the flight was delayed... Those few drops of rain had turned into a giant storm covering multiple countries! The whole airport was grounded. Lennon made immediate best friends with a little boy called Iman (Emanuele) who was part English/Italian/Albanian, they were so similar and both very excited and hyper. When we eventually got on the plane, we were sat right by each other and then the pilot announced we wouldn't be setting off for another hour and 40 minutes. The 4 of us on 3 tiny ryanair seats in the boiling heat with no food or drink 🙃

We eventually took off and we flew through the craziest storm, the sky around us was full of lightening bolts and the turbulence was intense. 'is the plane falling out of the sky!?' asked Lennon. I was wondering the same thing to be honest.

A million years later we arrived back in Manchester and Lennon said his goodbyes to Iman 'Im never going to see you ever again!' he told him 😂

On the drive home the sun came up 😅
