    Orkneys Day 2

    24 mai, Écosse ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Woke up today to our first wet morning. After a lovely breakfast of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, we drove to have a look at the Rennibister underground earthen house dating from around 400BC. Tim climbed down into it via a metal ladder while I watched!
We then went for a tour & tasting at the Orkney Gin Distillery. The distillery was only open for those who had booked tours as the rest of the staff were at a pop -up at the Orkney Folk Festival. There were only 4 of us on the tour and it was great - 4 different gins to taste and then our choice of Gin and mixer at the end. We were also walked through the whole distilling process. Great way to fill in a couple of hours while it was drizzling outside.
After lunch, we drove to Stromness to listen to some of the festival music. Pubs were really crowded, but music was fun!
Received an email this afternoon saying that because of predicted adverse weather conditions, our 9am ferry trip back to Scrabster tomorrow has been moved to 6.30am. We have to be there an hour before and we are a 35min drive from the terminal. Very, very early start tomorrow!!!
