• Te Aroha

We were looking forward to our friend Jude coming over to spend the day and night with us, so we packed up quick and headed towards Te Aroha. Initially we had planned to stay at the NZMCA site as it has a dog park next door. However we realised that as Jude isn't a member, we wouldn't be able to. I found a lovely POP site just 8 km's out of Te Aroha called Rustic Rabbit. A lovely flat site nestled in a row of pine trees and a handful of fruit trees. We were met by the lovely owners Craig and Jenny with their 4 month old Jack Russell puppy Maggie. The site is a working organic dairy farm, with sheep, chickens and pigs a well as the cattle. We got to watch the milking, and even participated!
In the evening we lit the firepit, and Craig and Jenny came out and joined us. We had a lovely evening getting to know each other! Marley and Maggie had the time of their lives, running and chasing each other around the fruit trees.
We went to bed feeling like we had one of the best nights of the trip. Jude slept in the Luton and Marley kept her company all night!
Unfortunately during the night I felt a bit off, so I went outside to get some fresh air and managed to wake both Neil and Jude as I wasn't able to get far enough away from the motorhome before I was horribly ill. I woke later on in the morning with a migraine, so we decided to come home day early.
This POP site is now one of our favourites and we are planning to go back Waitangi weekend!
