3Leaving the Lost Inn at 10:30am to start our Camino Portuguese.
Luckily the start was at the Cathedral only a few hundred metres away.We found our first Camino marker and a man who was there to greet us and provide a stamp.4Off we go 👈👉. Unfortunately we started on the wrong route & had to backtrack up hundreds of stairs 😩Finally we found the correct route and commenced the hike (again)Ann making her way down the treacherous steps in Porto 😥5Walking through the narrow streets of the cityNobody said we could take a helicopter to do the Camino?? 🤪Met Cam from Squamish BC and walked with him for 7kms. CP Day 1 Hike - Porto to Cabo do Mundo

    August 26 in Portugal ⋅ 🌬 19 °C

Today was our first day of walking the Camino. We did approximately 17 km from Porto to Perafita which took about 5 hours in total, with breaks. It was a sunny, breezy and pleasantly warm day. For the most part we walked all along the water, starting with the Douro river out of Porto and then the Atlantic Ocean. How different this first day was from our last Camino’s first day. We had a lot of city walking with many tourists on the street and not many pilgrims to be seen. We did however meet our first Camino friend, Cam from Squamish. We were happy to be finished at the end of the day and enjoy a drink by the ocean watching the waves crash on shoreRead more
