Day 7 - Santiago de Compestela

What an amazing finish.
Woke up earlier than usual. Dorm-mates actually set alarms...6:45am! And had the gall to hit snooze... who does that? Okay, so I went back to sleep and was awakened by my lovely travel partner at 8:15. Overall the albergue was a 10. Would stay again.
On the road at 9:10.
Such a beautiful day. It hit 80 degees. More lovely winding country roads, farms, trees, flowers, birds singing and the real Enchanted Forest. But the pinnacle of my camino was when an Italian perrigrina asked me why I learned Italian. Learned!?
The walk today was fairly level, not difficult, but magical. Sorry if I'm being a little sentimental or emotional. But seeing the distance markers tick down was a little sad. I wanted to finish but i didn't want it to end. Finally waking into the cathedral plaza was as special as I hoped. So many people smiling, crying, hugging and just taking it all in. People offering to take our picture and asking us to take theirs. Everyone is experiencing the same euphoria. Will there be another in my future? Not sure. I'll have some final thoughts tomorrow and stop the daily posting until we get to the convent.Baca lagi
