Holiday starts here! Google maps said 1 hour to do 10 miles on the M25! It wasn’t wrong! Meet and greet parking was so easy. Should have put a tracker in my car so I could see which field it would be parked in for the next two weeks! Premier Inn very comfortable and only a 5 minute walk away from Terminal 4 - an elevated enclosed walkway.Read more

Watched lots of episodes of Friends and a film called Next Goal Wins to help pass the time of the 9 hour flight. Food was good - chicken stew and lots of snacks from the tray in the back galley. Long walk to passport control but no queue, interrogated about the purpose of my stay. Airport shuttle to the domestic terminal to get the hotel shuttle. Sonesta Atlanta Airport South, checked easily. Big bed, big tv. Swimming pool is closed for maintenance - reception are going to phone me when it’s open.Read more

Coca-Cola World & Aquarium

Got the hotel shuttle to the airport then got the Marta train to Downtown Atlanta. Short walk to the Centennial Olympic Park, had a look around then to World of Coca-Cola. Christmas has arrived, giant baubles in the grounds and Christmas trees between the giant Coke bottles. Short presentation before exploring the museum. The vault, advertising campaigns, product development and the history of Coke. Had photo taken with the Cola Bear. Enjoyed trying lots of different flavours of Coke products. The Chinese plum Fanta wasn’t nice but loved the pineapple Fanta, cucumber sprite and the strawberry Coke. Decided to visit the Aquarium. Excellent exhibits, very well staged. The dolphin show was spectacular. Popped in the Marriott Marquis, the lobby is where some of Hunger Games was filmed. It’s the tallest indoor hotel lobby in the country. Back on the Marta to the Lenox Square shopping mall. Had dinner at the cheesecake factory but was too full for cheesecake!Read more

Hotel shuttle to the airport. Self Check In for my suitcase. South terminal security scanners not working so over to north terminal for checks. Airport transit to the B gates. Popeye’s chicken sandwich meal for lunch. A321 - 199 passengers - completely full. 4 hour flight to LAX. Watched episodes of The Office. 2 drink and snack services. After baggage claim got the free bus to the Uber area. 15 minute wait for the Uber - Vladimir in a Honda Civic. 40 minute ride to the hotel. Checked in easily. Room nice but cold so turned the AC to heat.Read more

Had a walk around the hood and got breakfast. A lot of yard sales going on. Got an Uber - Bryant in a Volkswagen Golf GTI to The Queen Mary. Checked in and was put in a holding pool for the Glory Days Historical Tour. Very interesting to view the function rooms with such finery. Tour ended after 45 minutes and was free to roam. I went everywhere that was open. A very informative exhibition of how the ‘grey ghost’ was used during World War 2 - carry troops over 16,000 on one voyage and had Churchill onboard.Read more

Embarkation day, had walk to the waterfront, nice memorials and fountains but they weren’t scheduled until 10am. The ship had arrived. Walked back and got an Uber to the port. Surprisingly easy to drop my case and check in. Security were harsh, belt and watch off. Bag searched, socket adapter inspected. No one in the Platinum line so I got my room key quickly although they needed to photograph my ESTA, took awhile to get it on screen. Was onboard by 11.30am. Booked the wine tasting and ship tour. Had lunch in the Taste Restaurant, very good food. Explored the ship and sampled their strawberry daiquiris. The hot tub wasn’t hot so didn’t stay in long.Read more

Up early for the 8.15am latitudes guided ship tour - behind the scenes. Saw the kitchen, laundry and the dressing room of the theatre and walked the length of the I95 - crew corridor from one end to the other. Then went to the how to run a cruise ship presentation with the captain, lots of information. Spent the afternoon in the hot tub with cocktails and shots courtesy of Canadian friends. Chocolate covered pineapple - they must have run out of strawberries in my room. Cocktails with the captain - for latitudes platinum and above. Production show Icons this evening.Read more

First port, got the tender boat to shore. Lots of sea lions and they smell really bad. 45 minute boat tour along the very tip of the longest, most peninsula in the world. To the towering rock formations and the famed El Arco, a dramatic natural rock that arches starkly out of the sea. Had a long walk through the harbour and along the beach. A lot of hawkers, didn’t buy anything!Read more

Early start for the Old Mazatlan Walking Tour. It started with a “Auriga" ride - an open-air converted pick-up truck, to the city's main square.
Went in the 19th-century Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Then the heart of the Historical Center of Mazatlán was explored - strolling through its narrow streets. A previous Governor loved the Beatles so put up statues and set up a club to play their music. Final stop was the Old beachfront called "Olas Altas" aligned with bars, coffee shops and restaurants to watch the local cliff divers who jump into a 5 - 8 feet of water. The tour ended at one of the local restaurants, where a complimentary beer and some salsa & tortillas.Read more
Hi Phil - looks like your on your cruise - hope its going well - interested to see what Mexico is really like - not sure about the in flight meal though, looked like something I make when I run out of money... I'm sure it tasted fine! [Cecil]

TravelerTBH I don’t think I got to see what Mexico is really like, Cabo San Lucas and the bit of Puerto Vallarta I saw were very touristy.

Today’s excursion to the beach - Sabal Playa Beach Club, an exclusive resort with an overlook of an absolutely gorgeous stretch of sand. I took a refreshing swim in the Pacific Ocean several times. A long walk along the beach and a lot of time in the infinity pool.Read more

Using my latitude benefits today, free laundry arrived back and went to the around the world wine tasting. Tried 8 different wines from different countries. Preferred the Pinot Grigio and the Malbec the best. Went to the How to Run a Floating Hotel talk, interesting facts.Read more

Final drinks and goodbyes with my friends from The Vibe Beach Club. Tried out the go-carts. It was fun but I was slow! Didn’t come last though! Someone was disqualified! Using a mobile whilst driving! I was watching the ocean blur by as I took the hairpin turns on the two-level track. The shows have been really good - Icons, Jersey Boys and the Beatles Experience. Had my last breakfast before using the ship’s airport transfer.Read more

9hr 30min flight with fantastic views of London.
Welcome home Phil you missed Storm Bert but its getting cold again, I thought you'd get more Mexico in? Though I guess transit takes up more time as its far away. Booked Bads for this Friday if you about - got an extra one in as its going to be busy in Dec so won't be able to do as many - but could got extra between xmas and ny! [Cecil]
