    16 Şubat 2021, Bolivya ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

We went to the Titicaca lake at her special day. Yes I had the honor to be with Anelisse on her birthday. That was really delightful.

We were heading north of La Paz to lake Titicaca to do one of the coolest zip line adventures in South America.

Tirolesas existen muchas, pero a 4035 m.s.m.n (la mas alta del mundo) y con una longitud de 2 kilómetros, a velocidades de hasta 115 Km/h, nos constituyen en el ZipLinemas extremo y extenso de América!!!

As you can read, it’s a freaking nice setup they have over there at lake Titicaca.

We arrived at 12.30h at the office when we were told that we are too late to register today. We shall come back another day they sad.

    What a pity.

We crossed the lake by boat ate some Trucha and watched some farting ducks while a bunch of people were zipping down the line not too far from our duckling spot.

    22 Şubat 2021, Bolivya ⋅ ☁️ -1 °C

Two days and one night were dedicated to a short trip to a mountain not too far from La Paz.

Back in La Paz I went to different agencies to ask for this hiking trip. Due to the pandemic there were only little possibilities to do this tour. I had to wait a couple days until I was in wonderful company. Dania Maira just told me she’d like to join this trip. Since we were two people the tour was finally doable.

In the early morning we drove to the base camp. From there we had a two hour hike to the Campo Alto where we prepared for the next days climb. Dania brought some Singani which helped a lot against the below zero temperature.

At one o’clock in the morning the guides woke us up and we got ready to climb the summit. It was supposed to take 6 hours from Campo Alto to the summit.

We started walking and after an hour we were deep inside some frozen snowscape. We mounted our crampons and continued our adventure.

About 2 hours later our Brazilian friend who we met in the basecamp couldn’t continue due to severe altitude sickness. One of our two guides took him back to the Campo Alto. Dania, another buddy from Tarija and I continued our trip with our motivated guide.

After another 2 hours all of us started to have different problems. Mister Tarija was exhausted. Dania didn’t have any energy left and I suffered already for hours of a very strong stomach ache. I couldn’t continue even the guide told me we can try to go further. I tried with him while my two friends were left behind at a safe spot where they had to keep walking on the same spot in order to keep the muscles busy. Minus ten degree and still no sun out that made this place almost unbearable to exist. After ten seconds I stoped the guide and told him I rather stay with my friends and wait for the sunrise.

Not too much later the sun came out. It was absolutely epic. Even though my pain didn’t disappear, I had to enjoy this stunning moment and for a while I forgot about my bad condition.

    3 Mart 2021, Bolivya ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Before I crossed the boarder I decided to spend a night at Copacabana 🏖😜. We’re not talking about the famous beach in Rio de Janeiro, it concerns the following fisher village located at the colossal lake of Titicaca. From here one can reach our to the famous isla del sol and isla de la luna. I didn’t do that. Crossing the boarder to Peru was rather my compelling duty.Okumaya devam et

    5 Mart 2021, Peru ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

I did a full day trip to some islands near Puno where one can visit fascinating indigenous tribes.

    Boom Wikipedia:
The Uru or Uros (Uru: Qhas Qut suñi) are an indigenous people of Peru and Bolivia. They live on an approximate and still growing 120 self-fashioned floating islands in Lake Titicaca near Puno.

Dear travel blog readers. I’m going to stop writing my stories down since I never found the motivation to do so in the past 6 months. It just did not suit me at all.

I might still write down some keywords or teeny weeny notes 📝.

  • Cusco

    15 Mart 2021, Peru ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

Who doesn’t like healthy food? Well Cusco ain’t food.
“Cusco is, hands down, the most fascinating city in Peru. There are not many other places in the world where ancient Inca walls stand side by side with Spanish architecture” quoted by ‘the broke backpacker’.

I do agree with him there are a hand full of historical Inca sites in the city and in all the satellite towns.

Cusco suffers like no other place in Peru from the absence of tourism. If you (the only Gringo in town) walk around the Plaza de Arma, all the local agents surround you and brutally tear you apart. Without arms and legs you then try to escape, while yelling that you did all the tours and bought the souvenirs and art drawings on the street.

Luckily there is the invention of earphones. You just smile and walk spirited through them.

Tour with four Inca sites in four different villages near Cusco.
    - Maras Moray
    - Chinchero
    - Centro arqueologico de Pisac y mercado
    - pueblo incaico de Ollantaytambo

Well thanks to El Paro del 16 de marzo, we almost couldn’t leave Cusco owing to all the streets blockades. As a result of missing one of the highlights of the tour, Pisac. Notwithstanding the tour was amazing.Okumaya devam et

  • Machu Picchu

    20 Mart 2021, Peru ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Machu Picchu is located in the Andes Mountain range, high above the Sacred Valley. Sunny winters and rainy summers make up the general climate of these subtropical highlands.

What I did: Two day trip.
What I wanted to do: Salkantay or Inca trail, several day hike to Agua Caliente.

Unfortunately no trekking available, thanks to the pandemic.

  • Huaraz

    6 Nisan 2021, Peru ⋅ 🌧 14 °C

Huaraz is the main hub for all mountaineer enthusiasts. The Cordillera Blanca is a mountain range in Peru that is part of the larger Andes range and extends for 200 kilometres. It includes several peaks over 6,000 metres high and 722 individual glaciers. The highest mountain in Peru, Huascarán, at 6,768 metres high, is located there and that’s the mountain I wanted to climb. However already before I arrived in Huaraz I asked a local guide about the requirements to climb this beast. He made clear that it’s a dangerous mountain and only accessible in winter between July and August, when the snow is hard and firm.

In lieu of Huascarán there were several other tours I could do.

  • Laguna Perolcocha

    8 Nisan 2021, Peru ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

Instead of visiting Laguna 69 after the day trip to Laguna Parón, I was convinced to do a two day trip to another valley in the mountain range Cordillera Blanca. It was Angel the owner of the hostel I staid in who persuaded me to visit the Laguna Perolcocha with him.

Angel has undoubtedly the expertises as a guide in the mountains of the Huascarán National Park. I figured this out while 18 year old Rodrigo and Angel were running up the mountain and I almost fainted by trying to keep up with them. I put too much effort in the ascension, hence I started to have a ugly headache and lost my appetite. Such a shame then Rodrigo caught a huge Trucha for dinner.

  • Glaciar Pastoruri

    10 Nisan 2021, Peru ⋅ ⛅ 8 °C

I wanted to visit one of the valleys where you can spot the mighty mountain Huascarán. The agency sold me a tour to Los Lagunas de Llanganuco at the foot of the mountain.

Instead of this Lagunas the agency swapped my tour to Pastouri Glacier. The agency sold me to tours whereas both tours didn’t take place, sequitur, ut I was not really happy with this agency. Neither photos of Huascarán nor Alpamayo, another photogenic 6k beast.

PERO, el glaciar Pastouri fue vale la pena. 😎
