• Day 35, La Paz

    February 7 in Bolivia ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

We missed the hotel breakfast, so we went out. We got two big coffees and two sandwiches with fried egg for €2,40. Then we went to the telephone companies office and grabbed a number. We didnt have to wait so long and after half an hour Nina walked out with a Bolivian sim card with internet, so we can finally use google maps here! We decided to take a taxi to the witches market, but it was mainly tourist shops, and three real witches shops. We bought a cuba libre, with real COCA cola. It was not lekker, but also not that bad 😅 there were also dead baby lamas hanging in the witches shops 💔 they are used to set on fire with some other herbs and is supposed to give luck.
We left to get some food. There really are more vegetarian and vegan options on the menu than in Peru, which is nice 😊 we went to the hotel to chill, and booked our next bus tickets and hotel for cochabamba. Then we went out for dinner and decided to try pizza. We were a bit weary because of the disgusting lasagne, but the pizzas were really nice! We also had some home made tiramisu as dessert, which was also not that bad! ❤️ we wanted to drink some beer in a bar, but we had a hard time finding something, so we walked around a bit. We came to a square where different groups were practising their group dances for what we think Carnaval. There was also a beer bar, but it looked not cosy at all, and smelled like food. So we went further on our way. It is also not so easy here to buy beer on the street. We came to a really big kind of market, where they sold miniature stuff, and barbie clothes (including underwear and socks!) , and other different figures and things, from working ants to plants. The further we walked, the more it looked like a fair (kermis). They had many games like table football and mini pool, but also shooting and gambling. It was clear that this stuff was there to throw your money away. Eike tried shooting, which should be easy because it was only 1,5 meter distance, but the game was rigged and it was impossible to shoot straight 🤣 there were also balloons that you had to break with a dart, but the balloons were not blown that much so that would also be impossible 😆 Eike finally found a beer and we took a break. But the market-fair was closing, so we went home and watched a movie.
