    Wir mögen Smögen

    September 7, 2023 in Sweden ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

As the title says, we liked Smögen from the first moment we saw its colorful houses, when we drove over the rocky hills shortly before reaching the sea. We looked after a parking lot, where we could leave the van and walk around the village only to end up in a shop which had many sports clothes on sale. We ended up buying two rainjackets, and taking funny pictures of us looking like paddington;) The shopowner was very friendly and gave us some recommentadions on restaurants and most important on a small parking lot 5 mins from the towns center where we could park for 12 hours for free. The place was even better than we had expected. After leaving our new clothes in the van, we walked to the village, where we couldnt stop repeating how beautiful it looked. The restaurant the shopowner had recommended, called Samuelsson was right in the citycenter. We decided to order a seafood platter and two glasses of white wine which looked and tasted fresh and amazing. After dinner we visited a light show that took place at the village these days. We payed 15 euros each which was waaayy too much for what it actually was, but we just made fun of it and enjoyed the evening anyways. We hiked on some hills and watched the lightshow from above which made it way more interesting and exciting:) But the most exciting thing was definitely the return home where we found out that the seawater right next to our van was full of bioluminescent plankton! I had rarely seen such a spectacle of nature. However one last mistery remains unsolved… how did we actually find out about the plakton? It‘s up to you to guess;)Read more
