Wine country to the North Cali coast

Onward and upward thru wine country, Napa and Sonoma, to the coast at Bodega Bay. We loved the beautiful miles of vineyard surrounding gorgeous wineries that looked more like mansions or hotels than businesses. We wound our way through a lot of country roads, wondering where our navigator was taking us until we finally saw the Pacific ocean as Bodega Bay appeared around a corner. The views of the beaches, hills and rivers were impressive, but the we came across groves of windswept trees that are truly spectacular!
I found a small boutique hotel along hwy101 and got a beautiful room at the top of 3 flights of stairs-we were both grateful that we had decreased our overnight bag to only one apiece. Next on the agenda was supper, but that proved to be a challenge in this tiny town. Nothing was open where we had been directed, but after stopping at the only open business, a surf shop, our steps were pointed 15 minutes back down the highway to a roadside fish restaurant/shack. The fish chowder was excellent but the rest of the meal just provided fuel for our bodies without happiness for our palate😀.Leggi altro
