    Eureka, California on the coast

    Aug 15–17, 2024 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 95 °F

Our next stop along the West coast was the old town of Eureka. On the way there we made several stops in, thru and around Giant Redwood Forests. The Drive-Thru Tree Park took us through the Chandelier Tree after we were privileged to drive thru many gorgeous groves of magnificent, huge redwoods as we moved up the coast.
When we arrived in Eureka we stayed in a historic hotel , the Eureka Inn. This extraordinary edifice dated back to the 1800’s, had been visited by several Presidents and had been renovated several times, but still was furnished in period antiques and structure. No air conditioning, but we borrowed a small fan for our 1 night. The town was beautiful with an interesting mansion, good stores (restocked at Walmart) and a delicious seaside restaurant.
