• Day 8 Allenheads to Hexham Racecourse

    8. maj 2024, England ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

16.2 m After a full English at the hotel we set off upwards back to the moor. Excellent tracks made walking east past an owl, curlews, lapwing, golden plover and a chatty wall builder. After a few hours we headed down into farmland and sheep and then wooded areas and mud! Good walking past some happy quiet cows and eventually to the Diptonmill pub that was conveniently still open. Had a pint of cider that tasted like Apple juice so had another and discovered it was 5.8%. We giggled our way uphill to the visible from miles away racecourse via lots of wild garlic. Helen chatted to the groundsman but no discount on the £25 /night fee. 🥺. Nice night. Rice and Wensleydale cheese for tea to the sound of the curlew.Læs mere
