Elsden to Rothbury

14miles Wonderful start to the day with another fantastic breakfast. Eggs Royale with spinach. Beautiful. Heard the waitress say she lived in Rothbury so we asked her if she would take our bags. Fantastic. Had a tour of the B&B - newly done up beautiful rooms. Bird in Bush gets top marks. Hot day from start. Soon into forest with multiple blockages so hard going. Took detours along forest tracks then eventually onto St Oswalds way where the going improved. Met a fella going the opposite direction going to Ravenglass. Had a good ‘walks we’ve done ‘blether. Managed to get into thick Heather for a while then dropped down to a busy carpark. Lots of local walks up Simon Side. Look nice. Last few kilometres into Rothbury where we had a welcome ice cream and a foot dip in river. On to the pub we’re staying at after buying local cheese and bread at the deli.Read more
