Abenteuer am Dachstein

Dave und Mary haben im Zeltanhänger anscheinend wunderbar geschlafen. Nach dem Frühstück geht es hinauf auf den Berg. Dave und Mary haben sich für dieses Abenteuer extra feste Bergschuhe angeschafft. Schon die Gondelfahrt ist ein Erlebnis, während wir auf die weit entfernte Bergstation an der Spitze zusteuern.

Oben angekommen, wagen wir uns auf die Stege, die direkt zwischen den Felsen gespannt sind. Die Treppen führen zu einer Aussichtsplattform mit Glasboden – ein echter Nervenkitzel! Aber die Aussicht ist einfach grandios. Als nächstes besuchen wir die Eishöhle, wo Eisskulpturen in wechselnden Farben strahlen, wie von innen beleuchtet – es ist wunderschön. Nacheinander posieren wir für ein Foto auf einem Thron aus Eis. Während sich unsere Freunde ein wenig ausrasten, machen wir mit Ronja noch einen kleinen Spaziergang im Schnee.

Langsam ziehen Wolken auf und wir beschließen, die Talfahrt anzutreten. Wir staunen nicht schlecht, wie schnell das Wetter umschlägt: Innerhalb von Minuten ist alles zugezogen, und wir können nur noch die jeweils nächste Stütze der Gondelbahn erkennen. Doch kaum sind wir wieder im Tal, erwartet uns eine Überraschung: Hier unten ist das Wetter ungetrübt schön und die Sonne lacht.

Daher zieht es uns noch zur Walcher Alm. Zurück am Campingplatz wird bei bestem Wetter fleißig geschwommen und Sommerrodel gefahren. Nach einem guten Abendessen ziehen wir uns glücklich in unser mobiles Heim zurück.

Adventure on the Dachstein

It looks like Dave and Mary had a great night's sleep in the tent trailer. After breakfast, we head up the mountain. Dave and Mary even bought brand-new hiking boots just for this trip. Even the gondola ride is an experience in itself as we gaze up at the distant peak and the mountain station.

Once at the top, we walk out onto the skywalks suspended right between the cliffs. The stairs lead to an observation deck with a glass floor—talk about a heart-pounding moment! But the view is absolutely spectacular. Next, we visit the ice cave, where ice sculptures shine in changing colors, as if illuminated from within – it is beautiful. One by one, we pose for a photo on an ice throne. While our friends take a break to rest up, we take a short walk in the snow with Ronja.

Slowly, the clouds start rolling in, so we decide to head back down. We’re amazed at how fast the weather changes here: within minutes, everything is completely fogged in, and we can only see as far as the next tower of the gondola lift. However, as soon as we reach the valley, we’re in for a surprise: down here, the weather is perfectly clear and beautiful.

Because the sun is still out, we can't resist a stop at the Walcher Alm. Back at the campsite, we take full advantage of the weather with plenty of swimming and summer tobogganing. After a great dinner, we settle back into our home on wheels for the night.Read more
