Heeello California! 🎶 here we are!

Weiter entlang des Küstenpanoramas, immer weiter Richtung Süden & der Sonne entgegen. Kalifornien, es ist schön, dich kennenzulernen.

Nach einigen Zwischenstopps um die Küstenlandschaft und das Meer festzuhalten & die Meeresbrise auf dem Gesicht zu spüren- und oft sind die Ausblicke eindrucksvoller als mit der Kamera einzufangen - einem kleinen Fotoshooting mit Lari und mit Dodi und den Blick auf die ersten Palmen, geht es zu unserem neuen Zuhause für die nächsten drei Wochen.
Santa Rosa, 40 Minuten entfernt von San Francisco.

Wir wohnen bei John&Sacha und freuen uns auf unsere ersten Wochen mit Sonne und wärmeren Temperaturen. Pünktlich zum Vorabend von Thanksgiving sind wir angekommen & wurden direkt zu allen Familienzusammenkünften eingeladen und eingeplant. Wir durften bei den Vorbereitungen und dem Kochen des Thanksgivingessens helfen und waren das erste Mal in unserem Leben Teil eines amerikanischen Thanksgiving, mit Truthahn, Cranberrysauce, Schinken und Marshamllowsüßkartoffeln. Aber nicht nur einmal, nein, zweimal! Ging es am nächsten Tag nochmal zur erweiterten Verwandtschaft auf ein weiteres Thanksgivingtreffen.

Wir sind zu einem guten Zeitpunkt angekommen, waren hier in den letzten zwei Wochen deutliche Temperatursenkungen und ganz viel Regen. Insgesamt hatte sich an der Westküste das Wetter in den letzten Wochen verändert, während in Washington und im Norden Oregons der Winter langsam Einzug gehalten hat, war es weiter im Süden bis San Francisco sehr regnerisch. Jetzt werden die Tage wieder sonniger und wärmer und wir sitzen jeden Morgen mit einem Kaffee in der Hand draußen - ein sehr guter Tagesstart :)

Wir wurden hier mit offenen Armen empfangen und mit unglaublich vielen Tipps für San Francisco & Umgebung ausgestattet. Einer dieser Empfehlungen führte uns mit Alex&Shoma (zwei weitere Leute, die grade mit bei John und Sacha wohnen) zu der Kobel Weinerei. Dort kommt, einer von Kaliforniens bekanntester und beliebtester, Champagner her.
Wir konnten an einer Führung teilnehmen und erfuhren ganz viel über die Entstehungsgeschichte, die Arbeit und Herstellung von Champagner. & wir durften sogar einige Testproben haben, yummi 🍾

Weihnachten wird hier auch groß aufgefahren und es gibt teils ganze Weihnachtsstraßen, wo ein Haus mehr blinkt und funkelt als das andere. Wir haben ein gefunden, was besonders speziell war und wollten euch dies nicht vorenthalten 😅

Friends of the sun ☀️

Heeello California! 🎶 here we are!

Onwards along the coastal panorama route, further and further south & towards the sun. California, it's nice to meet you.

After a few stops to capture the coastal landscape and the sea & to feel the sea breeze on our faces - and often the views are more impressive than capturing with the camera - a little photo shoot with Lari and Dodi and the view of the first palm trees, we head to our new home for the next three weeks.

We are staying with John&Sacha and are looking forward to our first weeks of sunshine and warmer temperatures. We arrived just in time for Thanksgiving & were immediately invited and scheduled into all family gatherings. We were allowed to help with the preparations and cooking of Thanksgiving dinner and were part of an American Thanksgiving for the first time in our lives, with turkey, cranberry sauce, ham and marshmallow sweet potatoes. But not just once, no, twice! The next day we were invited to another Thanksgiving come together with their extended family.

We arrived at a good time, as the temperatures here had dropped significantly in the last two weeks and it had rained a lot. Overall, the weather on the west coast has changed in recent weeks, while winter has slowly arrived in Washington and northern Oregon, it has been very rainy further south to San Francisco. Now the days are getting sunnier and warmer again and we sit outside every morning with a coffee in our hands - a very good start into the day :)

We were welcomed here with open arms and given an incredible amount of tips for San Francisco & the surrounding area. One of these recommendations took us with Alex & Shoma (two other people who are currently staying with John and Sacha) to the Kobel winery. One of California's best known and most popular champagnes is produced there.
We were able to take part in a guided tour and learned a lot about the history, work and production of champagne. & we were even allowed to have some samples, yummi 🍾

Christmas is also a big deal here and there are sometimes entire Christmas streets where one house flashes and sparkles more than the other. We found one that was particularly special and didn't want to keep it from you 😅 Czytaj więcej
