    Dag 5: Beren op de weg

    Op dag 5 werd team Partyzani wakker na de korte nacht die volgde op de Rally Party. Nadat de tenten waren ingepakt, vertrokken we richting een kasteel van Vlad de Impaler en de daarop geïnspireerde Dracula (luistertip: https://youtu.be/noLKTNmmy10). Na een klein rondje door het kasteel (dat van buiten mooier was dan van binnen) met wat gezellige tentoonstellingen van de martelkamers had team Partyzani het wel gezien en vertrok Zaffie richting de mooiste weg van Roemenië: de Transfăgărăşan.

    Heel wat bochten en hellingproeven later stonden we aan de top, en hadden we prachtig uitzicht over de berg en de weg die ons er naartoe had gebracht. Vervolgens reden we de weg af en kwamen we heel veel beren tegen: 11 in totaal!

    Hierna werd het tijd om de lange rit naar Boekarest te maken: via vele kleine dorpjes kwamen we uit in Ploieşti, waar we genoten van heerlijke burgers en de prachtige architectuur waar het communisme bekend om staat.

    In het donker zetten we onze rit voort over de onverlichte Roemeense wegen naar Boekarest. Onderweg waren een paar Roemenen en dragrace aan het houden in een dorpje, opgewacht door de politie die hier kennelijk al lucht van hadden gekregen en niet heel erg te spreken waren over deze vorm van vrijetijdsbesteding.

    Om 11 uur kwamen we aan in Boekarest, waarin we nog een klein rondje hebben gelopen langs het megalomane paleis van dictator Ceauşescu en de partyscene van Boekarest. Het was leuk om even te kijken, maar Boekarest staat niet bovenaan de citytrip recommendations van team Partyzani.

    La Revedere - I

    On day 5, team Partyzani woke up after the short night that followed the Rally Party. After the tents were packed, we headed out towards the castle where Vlad the Impaler and the derived character of Dracula (musical suggestion: https://youtu.be/noLKTNmmy10) had lived. After a short tour through the castle (which was prettier on the outside than the inside) and a view of the cozy torture chamber exhibitions, team Partyzani had seen enough. Zaffie continued its way to the most beautiful road of Romania: the Transfăgărăşan.

    Lots of tight turns and hill starts later we arrived at the top, where we had an amazing view of the mountain and the road that had brought us up the mountain. We continued on the same road and spotted many bears: a grand total of 11.

    Next, it was time to start the long journey to Bucharest. Through lots of small villages, we arrived in Ploieşti, where we enjoyed delicious burgers and the beautiful architecture for which the communist era is well-known.

    In the dark, we proceed to follow the unlit roads to Bucharest. In some town along the way, some locals were doing a drag race. The police, who had apparently caught wind of this in advance, waited for them. They were not particularly happy with this form of leisure.

    At 11 p.m., we arrived in the city of Bucharest. We briefly walked to the enormous palace of dictator Ceauşescu and had a look at the partyscene of Bucharest. Although it was good to stop for a quick visit, Bucharest will not make the top of team Partyzani's city trip recommendation list.
