Le Puy-en-Velay

It’s a rest day before we start. I went to Mass at Cathédrale Notre-Dame this morning to see off the Pilgrims starting today. After breakfast at St. George, I climbed the stairs to Statue de Notre Dame de France. I thought it was odd that there were canons lying about the statue’s base until I learned that the entire statue was forged from ancient artillery. I followed that with a visit to the Saint Clair Chapel, and the 10th-century Saint-Michel d'Aiguilhe chapel. This later church is perched atop a volcanic cone.
