Conques: Abbey Church of Sainte-Foy

This is special. I will provide captions to form most of the explanation of this historic Church entrance called the Tympanum.

After that, I’m also posting some photos of the church from the upper parts of the main church to give you a sense of its size and the weight of its architecture.

To the people who built these sacred spaces so beautifully and so strong, you have my admiration. Those who entered such a place must’ve thought it was a miracle but so much stone could rise up so close to heaven. Today, I understand a little bit of architecture and physics. The ripped vaults and the buttresses. I still think it’s a miracle. And and hundreds of years later, after your laborers, people like me, by some miracle, come and stand in wonder of your faith in God and the holy places you bequeathed to us.Læs mere
