Conques : premières impressions

I was so tired yesterday. I don’t think I could really give a good account of how beautiful and magical this place is. So, I’ll just post some photos that I took yesterday and today.

Maybe I can add some notes later today. It’s so strange to be sitting quietly in a café above the Abbey. The friendly proprietor serves his customers and takes deliveries from the procession of vendors who bring tablecloth or melons. The vendors in turn become customers and sit and talk and have a café or read the newspaper. It’s a much different pace of life here.

. I attended the Matin service and it was so beautifully religious order here (Premonstratensian Order). I think their religious order focuses on hospitality for pilgrims (les pèlerins) like me. I feel very welcome here.

The 10 o’clock Belle just rang. No more eating until after the 11 o’clock Mass.

The mass was beautiful. The religious, who is the head of the music, given an introduction to the mass and the way the sung at this Abbey. It was nice to get a chance to participate, knowing what was coming.

I recorded a Gregorian chant that religious sang at the Offertory. It was so beautiful.Læs mere
